Lessons
I am a dedicated teacher with a passion for engaging students on their instrument of choice, whether in the form of song, technique, theory, or performance. My students (young and old) report that I am energetic and enthusiastic and challenge them in ways that are constructive and insightful. As a teacher, I value the individuality of my students, their different life experiences and backgrounds, and their unique learning styles. My lessons and classes integrate an active learning approach, which I have found fosters student independence, creativity, and accountability.
Instruments I teach: Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin Ages I teach: 6 and up. Your 6 year old IS ready for lessons! I have a few 6 year old students playing full chords on uke and guitar. And you, at age 40, are ready to learn a new instrument...or take your skills to the next level. Rates: 15/20 min lesson - $25 (great for ages 4-6) 30 min lesson - $35 1hr lesson - $70 Lessons are held at the Ann Arbor Music School on the west side of the city. You can also split any lesson time slot between siblings or other family members in the same household. During our first lesson, I will asses where the student is on their instrument and proceed accordingly. This usually takes about 5 minutes and then we are off and running. After each lesson, students will receive a written description of topics covered in the lesson and practice assignments for the week. Lesson Policies
Practicing is fun! Well sometimes not really, but PLAYING is definitely fun. I ask that if you are taking lessons with me that you pick up your instrument for a minimum of 10 minutes at least 3 times a week. The more time you spend practicing the faster you will learn your instrument which leads to having a lot of fun sooner rather than later. There are endless fun and interesting skills to learn on our instruments and we will move as fast as you progress.
